Giddy up – trackside temperatures soar as icon.pr hit the races!
The Spring Racing Carnival hit the ground running at Caulfield Cup last Saturday, with Melbourne turning on a glorious 30 degree day full of glamour, champagne and canapés for those lucky enough to be in a trackside marquee.
The star-studded crowd saw David Jones model-of-the-moment Miranda Kerr, Megan Gale, Matt Welsh & Lauren Newton, Glen Moriarty, lip-gloss queen Jemma Gawned and two ladies who know how to dress for a day at the races; head honcho for Herald Sun fashionAnna Brodie and The Age style queen Jan Breen-Burns.
CEO of icon.pr Genevieve Brannigan spent the afternoon in the Pegasus marquee and even managed to see a horse or two!
With fashionistas and fillies around Melbourne in the midst of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, the icon.pr team asked Melbourne milliner Richard Nylon to reveal his ‘hot tips’ for looking the part when it comes to dressing for a day at the track.
1. A non-traditional approach to a racing outfit is not having a matching hat, dress, bag and shoes, but rather working towards an overall outfit with pieces that complement one another. For instance, a black and white outfit can look fab with a bright-coloured hat, with no black in it at all. Choose one item to be the focus of your outfit. I feel it should always be the hat.
2. When shopping for your hat, take the dress with you and vice versa if you already have your hat. If you have your shoes and bag, take them too - remember it is a total look you are aiming for.
3. If you are wearing a new pair of shoes to the races, make sure they are comfortable. Walk around the house and wear them in a bit. If they aren't comfortable, everyone will know by the "my feet are killing me" look on your face.
Be sure to look out for Richard in the marquees over the carnival and his creations donning the heads of celebrities and international guests.

The icon.pr team looking forward to the next performance by Melbourne dance group,Chunky Move. After wowing audiences and critics at their previous show ‘Two Faced Bastard’, the performers are set to do it all again in the studio.
The new work by independent choreographers Antony Hamilton and Byron Perry, I Like This tells the story of two men who embark on an unusual creative project.
The performance documents the making of a show, with the two director/choreographers appearing onstage creating the work at the same time as it is being performed.
Intimately engaging the show attempts to strike a balance between nuanced sophistication and delightful immaturity. It is an exercise in absurdity, a display of our limited capacity to be able to genuinely communicate to one another, and our inability to control or understand our surroundings.
The performance will run from November 20 – 29, 2008 at the Chunky Move Studios. Bookings can be made through www.m-tix.com.au or 9685 5111. More information can be found at www.chunkymove.com/i_like_this.html
